Three finalists selected for DL School District Manager position
The field has been narrowed for the position of Detroit Lakes School District business manager.
According to Superintendent Doug Froke, three candidates selected out of the 16 that applied have accepted the offer to be interviewed for the position.
Ryan Tangen, the current Becker County auditor/treasurer is in the running, along with Human Resources Director for the Detroit Lakes School District, Nancy Olson. The third candidate is Neil Kusler, who is currently the business manager for the Breckenridge School District.
Upon accepting the request to be interviewed for the position, all three candidates were notified that their names would go public.
Froke, along with members of the school board, will interview the candidates on March 7 and 8, at which time Froke says they hope to make a decision right away.
"And then the board will move it at a subsequent meeting," said Froke. "We hope that we can have them hired with a signed contract on the table by the 12th of March."
Salary for the new hire will be dependent on experience and negotiations.
Froke says the ideal candidate will be well versed in governmental accounting and financial management.
"And then also the plant operations of the district as they do supervise the grounds, the food service and the transportation areas of the district," said Froke.
The candidate chosen will replace Ted Heisserer, who is retiring from the school district after 30 years of service between Detroit Lakes and Frazee.
Heisserer's last day is June 30, with his replacement starting July 1.
