Time to give kids' coats
Again this year, Valley News Live Chef Meteorologist Hutch Johnson is asking everyone to help the valley's children by donating good quality children's coats, caps, snowsuits, mittens, scarves and boots to Hutch's Coats for Kids.
Local cleaners and service groups will then clean and distribute the donations to children in the community who need winter outerwear.
Donations will be accepted through Aug. 18 at MeritCare Clinic, Midwest Bank and St. Mary's Innovis Health, all in Detroit Lakes.

In the past 21 years, Coats for Kids has collected, cleaned and distributed over 224,200 coats and accessories. Last year's campaign provided valley children with 8,486 winter garments.
