Time for pampering: Women's Expo is Saturday
A change is coming to the Lakes Lifestyle Expo for Women set for Saturday at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The biggest change is the venue itself.
"We've moved to the Pavilion," said organizer Beth Pridday.
For the first two years of the expo it was held at the old Holiday Inn -- now the Clubhouse Hotel.
"The main reason was to have vendors under one space," Pridday said.
At the Holiday Inn, Pridday said that the expo was spread out in different rooms, which made it hard to coordinate everything.
Another change coming to the expo this year is a lack of a keynote speaker. Instead, there will be eight seminars throughout the day.
The expo has been a success here in Detroit Lakes, Pridday said. The expo has sold out the 65 booth spaces that were available.
The idea for a women's expo was originally based on a similar one in Fargo.
"I had a lot of people who liked the Fargo show," Pridday said. "But it's big and they couldn't see a lot of local vendors."
Pridday added: "It's amazing at what type of women's services we have here in our region."
Besides local vendors, a food court will be set up for the first time. Pridday said that most, if not all, will give away free samples.
Other giveaways include spa and hotel packages, gift certificates and gift baskets.
Shopping, though, is the main draw.
"Bring your money," Pridday said. "There are a lot of booths to shop at."
Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door, in person at Bliss inside the Washington Square Mall.
