Today is the last day to file for those running for Becker County Board, Frazee-Vergas School Board
If you are thinking about running for the Becker County Board, the Becker County Soil and Water Conservation District Board or the Frazee-Vergas School District, you better act quick.
Filing closes today.
All five county commissioners have filed for re-election: Barry Nelson, Larry Knutson, John Okeson, Gerry Schram, and Donald Skarie.
Craig Fontaine of Villa Lane and Mark Hagedorn of 1246 Lake Ave. have filed for a new open district in Detroit Lakes. Hagedorn filed Monday.
Former Becker County Administrator Tom Mortenson of Detroit Lakes is apparently considering a run for the new district: In a news release last week he said he is "seriously considering running for public office." Filing for county offices closes at 5 p.m. today. There is a $50 filing fee for county commissioner.
In the Frazee-Vergas School District, one new candidate emerged Monday: Don Trieglaff of Frazee. Incumbent Dana Laine and Mary Lepisto have also filed.
There are three four-year terms open on the school board: Laine, Steve Jepson and Keith Janu hold those seats.
There is a $2 filing fee to run for school board.
Three people have filed for three open seats on the Becker County Soil and Water Conservation District Board: Duane Grossman, Anthony Beck, and Kathy Stenger.
Filing is July 31 through Aug. 14 for city and school district elections that don't use the primary system.
