Training to be a leader
Eighty-five FCCLA members from around the state attended a two-day leadership training at Saint Benedicts College in St. Joseph, MN on July 29-30.
They attended the first phase of Family Career and Community Leaders of America Dynamic Leadership Training. Attending from LPA chapter were Region 6 Vice President Jessica Larson, and Region 6 Secretary Sarah Johnson.
Kelly Barnes, leadership trainer from Oklahoma, facilitated the activities for the camp, sharing his life experiences and lessons that he related to the FCCLA members. Included in the training was helping the officers learn how to facilitate and plan meetings. In addition, students polished their public speaking and presentation skills.
This year's Minnesota FCCLA State Theme is "Life's A Canvas...Create It." Working with the state theme in mind, the region officers have preliminary plans for the Region 6 Fall Rally, which will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at MSTCS-Detroit Lakes-Conference Center. Officers will present round table presentations on different FCCLA projects and information on upcoming events for the year.
