Travis D. Buckanaga, 23, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford. Interment will be in Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, until the time of services Thursday at the Old Pine Point School.
Travis Dwayne Buckanaga, known as "Travey," was born to Patrick and Stacy (Skinaway) Buckanaga on June 18, 1989 in Minneapolis. He was named by his auntie, Wanda Blaine and was raised and educated in Ponsford, later attending the Park Rapids Public Schools. He was employed at Quizno's in Detroit Lakes.
Travis enjoyed time with his daughter, Tiera; playing basketball and poker. He was a loving father and adored his daughter.
Survivors include his daughter Tiera, of Rapid City, S.D.; his parents, Patrick Buckanaga of Mahnomen and Stacy Buckanaga of Minneapolis; brothers, Patrick Buckanaga Jr. of Ponsford, Michael Croud of Ponsford, David Fairbanks of Fargo, Derek Croud of Ponsford and Darius Buckanaga of White Earth; sisters, Emily Fairbanks of Minneapolis, Nicole Croud of Minneapolis, Jessica Dean of Lake Park, Raven Beaulieu of Cass Lake and Brooklyn Buckanaga of White Earth; his special friend, Amber Morrison of Rapid City; and his grandmothers, Bernice Buckanaga of Ponsford and Margaret Skinaway of Minneapolis.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Cheyanne Skinaway and his grandfather, Melvin Buckanaga.
