Twin Cities man hurt in Wadena County snowmobile accident
WADENA -- A Plymouth man was hurt in a snowmobile accident last Saturday, Jan. 23 in Huntersville Township in northern Wadena County.
Around 2 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to the scene after friends of the accident victim were only able to give a general location of the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol, Hubbard County deputies, Menahga first responders, Hubbard first responders and DNR conservation officers searched for the victim, Stephen James Juntilla, 23.
A state trooper found Juntilla along a trail and brought him out of a wooded area to an ambulance that was standing by.
Juntilla told investigators he missed a corner on the trail and struck a tree, and was ejected from the sled. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids and was later discharged.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office said Juntilla was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and that alcohol was believed to have been a factor. Theaaccident is still under investigation.
