Two Park Rapids residents arrested in theft investigation
A 26-year-old Park Rapids man was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and a 25-year-old Park Rapids woman was arrested on suspicion of a controlled substance crime following an investigation into stolen boat motors by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and Park Rapids Police Department.
Taken into custody, pending formal felony receiving or possessing stolen property charges, was Daniel Lee Moorhouse, 26, 16264 County 6, Park Rapids.
Also taken into custody, pending a felony 5th degree controlled substance crime charge, was Rebecca Denise Stromback, 25, residing at the same address.
This investigation will continue and may result in the arrest of others, said Hubbard County Sheriff Gary Mills.
According to a press release from Hubbard County, the Sheriff's Office on Thursday responded to North Beach Resort on Potato Lake and received a report about stolen boat motors, including two 2007 Yamaha 9.9 horsepower outboard motors and one 2004 Honda 9.9 horsepower outboard motor, along with a Stihl handheld gas leaf blower, a set of black jumper cables with copper tips, a Class A receiver hitch, miscellaneous hand tools, and 10 gallons of gas that had been in red gas cans.
The Sheriff's Office and Park Rapids Police Department on Friday executed a search warrant at 16264 County Road 6 in Park Rapids, and recovered a Yamaha 9.9 horsepower motor with one of the reported stolen outboards from North Beach Resort, the press release said.
Further investigation resulted in the recovery of the other 9.9 horsepower Yamaha, and the 9.9 horsepower Honda motor.
Methamphetamine was also located at the residence, the press release said.
