The Detroit Lakes Angels used a couple of oldies but goodies in their 6-2 extra-inning victory over Perham Friday.

Previously retired and former Angels Terry Haus and Shawn May keyed a four-run 10th inning to topple the Pirates in Hi-10 League action.

DL couldn't follow it up Sunday, though, losing to Bluffton in 10 innings 6-5 to wrap up the regular season and finish with a 10-8 league record.

The No. 5 Angels play tonight (Wednesday) against No. 6 Bluffton in New York Mills. A win by DL will force the Angels to play in Wadena against the top-seeded Shockers Friday; with a loss DL will play in an elimination game Sunday afternoon.

"We should be full strength Wednesday for the playoffs and Matt Huberty will start on the mound for us," said co-manager Phil Kirchner. "He should be well rested. The top five teams in the playoffs are pretty equal, so it should be a good (tournament)."

The top three teams will advance to play in the Region 14C tournament.

Haus and May each had to come out of retirement for the Perham game so DL would have a full roster, with several players gone due to vacations.

May sparked the 10th inning rally with a single, while Kirchner drew a two-out intentional walk after.

Haus railed a single to left to score May and the eventual game-winning run.

The Angels purchased some insurance on an RBI single by Nick Omberg and an error by Perham on a Trevor Tappe hit.

Brian Buhr pitched the complete game, allowing eight hits, while Perham suffered on defense with four errors.

"Brian Buhr pitched great and Shawn May and Terry Haus came up big for us," Kirchner added.

Bluffton sealed a 10th inning victory over the Angels on a suicide squeeze play, which scored Michael Mast to down DL.

Kyle Danner hit well by going 4-5 with two RBIs, while Taylor Fuhs and Tappe each had two hits.

Chris Gilson went all 10 innings on the hill for DL, giving up nine hits, while Kyle Tumberg registered the complete-game win for the Braves.

The Angels were hindered by four errors in the field.
