VFW seeking Voice of Democracy entries
The VFW is seeking students to enter the scholarship program, an audio/essay contest, for ninth through 12th grade.
The theme for the Voice of Democracy contest is “Why I’m Optimistic about our Nation’s Future.”
Record your original 3-5 minute essay on a standard cassette tape or CD.
Prizes are awarded at the local, district, state and national levels. State winners receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., March 1-5 to tour the city, meet our nation’s leaders and be honored by the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary.
The top scholarship is $30,000.
All entries are due locally by Nov. 1 to Voice of Democracy chairperson Leatrice Wirtz. For more information, call her at 847-9617.
The Patriot’s Pen essay contest is open to all students in grades 6-8.
A typed essay of 300-400 words should be on this year’s theme, “What Patriotism Means to Me.”
Essays are due Nov. 1 to VFW Chairperson Leatrice Wirtz. For more information, call her at 847-9617.
