Vietnam trade mission offered to MN farmers
Detroit Lakes Minnesota 511 Washington Avenue 56501

A Vietnam trade mission is presenting unique market opportunities for Minnesota ag companies.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) will lead a trade mission to Vietnam this November to provide farm management education to Vietnamese hog producers and increase export opportunities for Minnesota companies that sell feed grains, livestock supplements and genetics.

The trade mission is part of the Dayton Administration's effort to strengthen the state's economy by helping Minnesota companies develop new market opportunities and accelerate the growth of agricultural exports.

Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson says trade mission participants will have the opportunity to meet with Vietnamese farmers and potential export buyers to gain invaluable first-hand insight into their fast-growing market.

"Vietnam's demand for pork products is skyrocketing and farmers there are eager to buy higher quality feed and learn better farm management practices," said Frederickson.  "With steady economic growth and rising incomes, Vietnam is an exciting market opportunity for Minnesota agricultural exporters."

The November 27 -December 3 mission will be organized with MDA's partners in Vietnam to provide participants a wide range of business opportunities, including: Market presentations; One-on-one meetings in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi; Networking receptions; Site visits to feed mills; Educational seminars and discussions with local hog producers; and Meetings with government officials.

Minnesota companies interested in joining the trade mission can register now through Friday, October 7, 2011.
