Pelican Rapids traveled to Warroad and picked up its first gridiron win of the season after turning up the heat with 27 unanswered second half points.

The Vikings played a solid all around game in the process, by scoring on their first possessions of the game after ending Warroad's opening possession with a fumble recovery by Dan Ditch.

The opening touchdown went to Brady Morgan on a one-yard run, with the Cris Molina PAT giving the Vikings the early 7-0 lead.

The Vikings scored again on a 34-yard field goal by Molina.

Warroad came back strong with a good scoring drive, ending with a one-yard run from Adam Shaugabay.

The two-point try failed, and it was all Pelican Rapids after that.

Pelican Rapids picked up two touchdowns in the third quarter on a seven-yard run by Alex Klovstad, who led the Vikings in rushing with 99 yards on the ground.

The next touchdown for the Vikings came when Connor Holt recovered a Vikings' fumble in the endzone.

Molina was good on both PAT's.

In the fourth quarter, the Vikings again got on the board twice.

Brady Morgan scored from eight yards out on a run and Casey Bruggeman scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak.

A bad snap on the last PAT resulted in the missed extra point.

"The offensive line of Lance Erickson, Dan Wood, Connor Holt, Cody Wahlstrom  Landon Ohe and Justin Keller deserve a lot of credit for the success of the team," said Pelican Rapids head coach Dave Haugen. "They did a great job all night as the Vikings picked up 280 yards on the ground."

Defensively, the line also did a good job of shutting down the Warroad running game and not giving the team much time to throw when the Warriors went to the pass.
