Virginia Faye "Ginny" Wold, 78, of Detroit Lakes, passed away peacefully at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes on Friday, January 6, 2012.
Ginny was born to Winfield and Clara Lind Murray on October 21, 1933 in Detroit Lakes. She was one of 12 children. She grew up in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.
In 1952, Ginny married Sanford Wold and they made their home in Seattle, Wash. She later moved to Plaza, N.D., where she enjoyed years spent with family and friends. She then attended Minot State College, where she earned a law enforcement degree. She then worked as a deputy sheriff with Ward County, N.D., and later moved to Fargo, where she worked for American Family Insurance.
In 1995 she retired to her hometown to be with her loving brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Surviving Ginny are her beloved children, Connie (Jerry) Maas of Prior Lake, Minn., and Ken Wold of Minot, N.D.; loving grandchildren, Shane Martin, Tessa Klett, Jarrett, Brett, Devon and Sierra Wold and Lori Fossa (Maas); 11 very precious great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Arlene) Murray of Moorhead; and three sisters, Annabelle (Bill) Froysland of Detroit Lakes, Alice Greminger of Detroit Lakes and Donna Johnson of Detroit Lakes.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Ethel Murray, Ione Olmstead and Betty McDonald; and four brothers, Donald Olson, Wallace Murray, Timothy Murray and Albert Murray.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at First Baptist Church, Detroit Lakes, with visitation one hour prior to services.
