Wadena man accused of sexually abusing three children in St. Louis County
DULUTH — A Wadena man is accused of sexually abusing three preteen children over a period of several years while he was living in St. Louis County.
Shane Anthony Spicer, 41, made his initial appearance in State District Court in Duluth last week to face four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Spicer was formally charged by summons last month.
The criminal complaint alleges that Spicer abused male and female victims, all known to him, between 2000 and 2008.
According to the complaint:
A girl was interviewed in February at the First Witness Child Abuse Resource Center. The girl told a social worker that she had been sexually penetrated by Spicer when she was 7 or 8 years old. She said Spicer threatened her and ordered her not to tell anyone.
A second victim, a male, told investigators he was abused by Spicer when he was about 6 to 9 years old. The male said the abuse involved touching Spicer’s genitals. The male said he was threatened with physical harm if he did not comply.
Another male victim was also interviewed by law enforcement. He stated that when he was about 12 or 13, he was forced to perform oral sex on Spicer. The male said Spicer threatened to kill him otherwise. The boy said he was initially afraid to report the abuse because Spicer’s threats.
Spicer previously resided at 8855 Swan Lake Road in Alborn. He does not have any substantial criminal history, according to a check of Minnesota and Wisconsin court records.
Spicer is scheduled to appear in court again July 9.
