Wadena police investigating copper thefts

Wadena police are looking into a pair of large-scale copper thefts in the area.

On Sept. 20, a foreman of an electrical contractor reported the theft of two pallets of copper wiring. The value of the missing wire was determined to be around $1,000.

The second theft was even worse.

On Monday, Sept. 26, Wadena police responded to the Ferrell Gas Company on U.S. Highway 10 West, and investigated a burglary there where a suspect or suspects cut the chain link fence and entered the area where company vehicles are parked.

About $4,000 in copper was stolen from vehicles.

Anyone with information about the thefts was urged to call the Wadena Police Department at (218) 631-7700.
