Wallace J. Rossbach, 94, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Military rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19 in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, by the Lake Region Veterans Honor Guard.
Wallace J. Rossbach was born to George and Genevieve (Warwick) Rossbach on February 15, 1917 in St. Paul. He graduated from St. Paul Central High School and worked for a number of businesses in St. Paul. He served with the Naval Reserve, 1933-37.
Wallace was united in marriage to Norma E. Jones, August 16, 1938 in Hudson, Wis. He served with the U. S. Army, 1942-52. Following his discharge, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in West St. Paul until retiring in 1973. They moved to Height of Land Lake near Detroit Lakes in 1973.
Norma died in 2000. Later that year, Wallace was united in marriage to Linda Thompson in Hudson, Wis. They also made their home on Height of Land Lake in rural Detroit Lakes. For the past 2½ years, Wallace has been a resident of Oak Crossing.
Wallace enjoyed fishing, playing cards, a good drink and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife Linda, of Detroit Lakes; a stepson, Cayce Loberg of Fargo; a niece, Gail (Ken) Cole of Wyoming; stepbrothers and sisters, Rae Winn of Alexandria, Minn., Gerald Rossbach of Shingle Springs, Calif., Ed (Beta) Rossbach of Champlain, Minn., Ida Mae Dickinson of Minneapolis andShirley Rossbach of St. Paul; and niece, Pam Jhanke.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Norma; a daughter, Maxine; brothers, Donald, Richard, James, David and Curt; and a stepson, Eric Thompson.
