Warroad woman in satisfactory condition after weekend shooting
A Warroad, Minn., woman is in satisfactory condition in Altru Hospital after allegedly shooting herself in her home Saturday.
Warroad police said their officers, along with officers from the Roseau County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Border Patrol and the Minnesota State Patrol, responded about 12:46 p.m. Saturday to a report of a woman with a gunshot wound in a trailer home.
The woman, in her 40s, was taken to Roseau Life Care Medical Center, "stabilized" and airlifted to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, according to the police news release.
"The initial investigation revealed that the gunshot wound was most likely self-inflicted using a small caliber handgun," according to the release. "Investigators determined there is no evidence to believe that any other individuals were involved in the incident."
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted the Warroad police and the Roseau County sheriff's office in the investigation.
An Altru nursing supervisor said Wednesday the woman was in satisfactory condition.
The Herald is not identifying the woman because of the nature of the incident.
