Donna Chalimonczyk, a watermedia artist from Moorhead, will be exhibiting her work at the Detroit Lakes Library during the months of April and May. Her paintings include a wide variety of subjects including landscapes, still life, people and abstracts. Donna began painting in 1990 when she joined the Cormorant Area Art Club and was living near Lake Park. She continues her membership in the CAAC, where she attends workshops and displays her work during their July art show. She is also a member of the Red River Watercolor Society, F-M Visual Artists and the Hjemkomst Center Artists' Studio in Moorhead.

The United Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes hosts a Palm Sunday Cantata, "Come Touch the Robe," at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. today (Sunday). Fellowship and refreshments follow each service.

Trinity Lutheran Church performs a dramatization of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9. It is open to the public.

An Easter drama for the whole family, "The Campfire" is Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. It is free admission. The humorous, music-filled story is about two friends in the corporate world, who lose their jobs and see life differently when encountering a simple mountain family while on a camping trip. Johnny Buttens, the world's fastest banjo player, and the Fat Cats will perform.

Art students from Minnesota State Community and Technical College will be hosting an Empty Bowls Lunch on Wednesday, April 16. This event is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Legacy Hall on M-State's Fergus Falls campus. Guests will be served soup in a handmade ceramic bowl of their choice in exchange for a minimum donation of $12. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

Detroit Lakes Public Schools presents the 2009 spring play production, "12 Angry Jurors," on April 23-25 in the George Simson Auditorium, Detroit Lakes Middle School. Show time is 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are available at Central Market Video.

One of country music's hottest young stars, Dierks Bentley comes to Mahnomen's Shooting Star Casino on Friday, April 24 for a sold-out concert at 8 p.m. Rising country singer-songwriter-musician Judd Hughes will open the show. Other upcoming performances at the Shooting Star include Howie Mandel on May 8 and Josh Gracin on May 22.
