Waubun man in court for burglary
A Waubun man made his first appearance Tuesday in Becker County District Court on felony charges of second-degree burglary-school property and property theft-over $5,000.
Zachariah Michael Bray, 27, of 36874 County Road 211, Waubun, is accused of stealing 12 iPads from the Circle of Life School in White Earth on Jan. 17, while he was employed there as a construction worker.
According to the criminal complaint, Bray was linked to the theft after a surveillance video at the school allegedly showed him entering the room where the iPads were known to have been stored while construction was going on at the school. Bray did not have any reason to be in the room at that time, according to the complaint.
The video clearly showed a man, identified as Bray, leaving the room with several cardboard boxes. Bray's girlfriend, Christine Jackson, was later charged with selling some of the iPads to various individuals.
According to the complaint, Jackson said she had agreed to sell the iPads because she felt threatened by him.
Bray has been released on $3,000 bond pending his next court appearance, at an Aug. 6 omnibus hearing.
