Waubun man in court for throwing, striking toddler
A Waubun man made his first appearance Monday in Becker County District Court on felony charges of third degree assault (victim under 4 years of age) and malicious punishment of a child.
Travis Brandon Parisian, 21, 2586 St. Hwy. 113, Waubun was living with a woman at an Ogema residence at the time the alleged incident occurred.
A Becker County Human Services worker was conducting a home visit on Jan. 19 when she noticed a 1½-year old child living there had a split lip with dried blood on it.
Upon questioning the mother, she was told that the child had been assaulted by the woman's live-in boyfriend, Parisian, on Jan. 17. According to the complaint, Parisian had allegedly become angry and picked up the child by the hair, throwing her on the bed and striking her in the face.
When the mother yelled at him for hurting the child, he allegedly ordered them both to leave the residence. The mother said she had not reported the incident out of fear of the defendant.
Parisian has been released on $15,000 bond pending his next court appearance, at a March 5 omnibus hearing.
