Waubun woman arrested for abuse of toddler
A Waubun woman has been arrested on three counts of child abuse to a 16-month-old child.
On Feb. 11 at about 10:22 p.m., the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Waubun residence, requesting an ambulance for a toddler in medical distress, according to a press release from Mahnomen County Sheriff Doug Krier.
EMS responded to the call and the child was taken to Mahonmen Health Center and later transferred to Sanford Health in Fargo. The hospital suspected possible child abuse and law enforcement was contacted and determined there was abuse involved.
On Feb. 27 in Mahnomen County Court, a complaint was filed against Arlene Duncan, 44, of Waubun for one count first degree assault and two counts of malicious punishment of a child.
Duncan was arrested on a warrant out of Freeborn County and was being held for Mahnomen County.
She appeared in Mahnomen County District Court on March 3 and bond was set with the following conditions: not to leave Minnesota, no contact with the victim and no firearms possession.
Her next court date is pending.
