Wayne Anthony Warren was born the son of Ronald and Patricia (Alexander) Warren on Oct. 17, 1976, in Rapid City, S.D. At the young age of two, Wayne moved with his family to Princeton, S.D., where he grew up and attended school. In 1996, his family moved to the Waubun area, and he began working at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Wayne met Andrea Bellanger and together they had a son, Shawn, in 1997.

Wayne later met Marie King, with whom he was living at the time of his death; together they have a 2½-month old son, Richard.

Whether it was hunting, fishing, ricing, netting or mushroom picking, Wayne loved the outdoors and enjoyed teaching and sharing these hobbies with all those around him. He also liked to take time to travel, read, cook and spend time drinking coffee with family and friends. Wayne didn't go anywhere without his cup or thermos of coffee.
