WE Fest teams up with Boys, Girls Club
WE Fest Livin’ the Dream in 2013 isn’t just about great camping and country music, it is also about 850-plus children discovering their full potential and living their dreams because of the partnership between WE Fest and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Detroit Lakes and Perham.
For the second year in a row, WE Fest has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs to give away an enormous prize package to one lucky winner to be drawn on the WE Fest stage before the final act on Aug. 3.
This year’s prizes include a brand new 2013 21’ Gulf Stream AmeriLite travel trailer, a WE Fest VIP music and camping package for 2014, and new this year – a lot of camping extras including a $200 Minnesota State Park gift card.
“We are very excited about raffling off another camping and WE Fest package,” said Patrick Petermann, the Clubs’ executive director. “In 2012, this partnership, our sponsors, and over 60 dedicated volunteers made it possible for our Clubs to raise over $54,000 to support local youth that attend our after school and summer programs. Given the enormous growth we are experiencing with the start of our summer programs, we are grateful for the opportunity to do this again.”
Enrollment at the Clubs’ locations in Perham and Detroit Lakes has increased drastically and daily attendance is expected to reach record highs this summer. Currently, approximately 180 children attend Club activities each day between both locations.
Children receive help with homework and social skills, have opportunities to be physically active, can express their creativity with arts projects, be paired with an adult mentor, and much more. The Clubs also offer healthy meals and snacks to members, serving a total of 40,520 in 2012.
Other sponsors supporting this effort include KLN Family Brands, Lakeshirts, Midwest Bank, Pemberton Law Firm, Nereson Automotive, Real Country 102 KRCQ, and OutletRecreation.com. The camper will be on display throughout the Detroit Lakes & Perham areas, including visits to many local events, parades, and festivals.
It will be displayed for the first time at Bremer Bank during Street Faire at the Lakes May 31 and June 1.
“We had a lot of fun last year and the response from our volunteers, the community, and festival goers was phenomenal,” said Sue Trnka, the Clubs’ resource development director. “I think this year promises to be more incredible than last. Ticket buyers last summer made the connection between the cost of their ticket and the benefit to our Club members. No doubt they each wanted to win the grand prize, but all knew that the kids were the real winners.”
Tickets will be available for sale at both Club locations, at the Boys & Girls Club Thrift Store & More in Detroit Lakes, the Reuse It Store in Perham, and for five days at WE Fest.
More information is available at www.bgcofdl.org. 3000 tickets are available for $20 each.
