We live among kind, generous people
Tired of gloom and doom news?
Let me share a story of local human kindness. Last week, I was a volunteer Minnesota loon monitor, needing to get permission from a landowner for access to South Twin Lake.
My hand knocked on the door of Tom Hauglid, who not only granted me access, but helped me lug my canoe down a punishing hill. He graciously shared his extensive knowledge of the lake's loons and other wildlife.
Last year, another Hauglid family not only helped me portage my canoe, but drove me to where my truck was parked on the opposite end of the lake.
How awesome it is to live in an area surrounded by such kind generous people.
Thank you Hauglid family. -- Sue Sonnenberg, Detroit Lakes
