Wee Tee Tournament at Ironman Golf Course turns 40
The 40th Annual Ironman Junior Classic began on Wednesday with the Wee Tee Tournament, for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 7. Ten aspiring golfers braved the afternoon sun and played 9 holes from the shortened tees. In the boys division, Gehrig Geiss, from Bismark shot an impressive 34 to come in first, while Lukas Justesen from Pelican Rapids came in second with a 42. Nathan Cihak of Detroit Lakes was 3rd with a 45. Other scores were Carson Rogstad with a 52, Noah Borah 71, and Jack Clark with a 76.
In the girls division, Abby Larson from Detroit Lakes came in first with a 59 while Sarah Tangen of DL came in 2nd with a 64. Emily Moran was 3rd with a 66 and Abby Longhenry was 4th with a 70.
The Ironman Junior Classic continues on Thursday and Friday with tournament play for boys and girls ages 8 - 15 and concludes on Saturday with a Parent Child Scramble at 8:00 a. m.
