HOLIDAY EVENTS

• Breakfast With Santa: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Minnesota State Community & Technical College, Detroit Lakes. There will be Santa and Mrs. Claus, steel drum Christmas music by Dave Herzog and a Christmas market place. • Tamarac Holiday Open House: Noon to 4 p.m., Tamarac Refuge, rural Detroit Lakes. View beaver activity through the lens of a remote camera. Get 25 percent off everything in the gift shop -- Native American crafts, children's toys, clothing, a wide selection of books, natural food items and more. The film The Biggest Dam Movie You Ever Saw! will play at 1 p.m., followed by a 2:30 presentation: Leave it to Beavers! Sample foods from nature, and take part in children's activities, Ojibwe craft demonstrations and sales.

• "Star of Bethlehem": 2 and 7 p.m., Planetarium, Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Look at the mysteries sur-rounding one of the most famous celestial events in history; the program also examines the stars, the constellations of the bril-liant winter sky. Admis-sion $1.50-$3. • Santa Village: Noon to 7 p.m., Rheault Farm, 2902 25th St. S., Fargo. Make holiday crafts, meet Santa's reindeer and more. • "Out of the Darkness-Let Your Light Shine": 3 p.m., Memorial Auditorium, Concordia College, Moorhead. The annual Concordia Christmas concert. Tickets $12, group discounts are available. Info: 218-299-4366.

• "Sing and Tell the Story": 4 p.m., Grace Community Church, 24068 Pine Ave., Osage. The public is warmly invited to enjoy this Christmas concert by Vicki Marthaler and Kim Schnitzer. THEATER

• "Stardust": 2 p.m., Shanley High School, 5600 25th St. S., Fargo. Set in a dramatic academy, the students and their beloved teacher are awaiting a famous artist who will guest star in one of their plays; hilarity ensues when the students realize this Broadway star does not share their outlook on theater. • "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown": 7 p.m., Fargo North High School Theater, 801 17th Ave. N., Fargo. Musical based on the "Peanuts" comic strip by Minnesota native Charles M. LITERARY EVENTS

• "Remembering Pearl Harbor": 7 p.m., Historic Holmes Theatre, 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Join Minnesota State University Moorhead professor of history Dr. Steve Hoffbeck as he shares the Minnesotan response and contribution to the war including the sending of soldiers to the battlefronts, enduring shortages and rationing of vital World War II materials like gasoline and sugar. This program is hosted by the Detroit Lakes Library, and supported in part or in whole with money from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage fund. Free admission. Info: 218-847-2168.

Wednesday, Dec. 8

MUSIC

• Advent Mini-Concert: 12 noon to 12:30 p.m., First Lutheran Church, 912 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes. Performers include Paul Heisler and Russell Bunker and vocalist Rick Kratzke. A soup and sandwich lunch will follow the concert, with a free will offering to be taken.

• "Santa's Workshop": 1:30 p.m., George Simson Auditorium, Detroit Lakes Middle School. Holiday concert by the kindergarten classes of Roosevelt Elementary School in Detroit Lakes. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Thursday, Dec. 9

MUSIC

• Kathryn Knuttila: 7:30 p.m., Frazee Event Center. Christmas Concert Gala by the reigning Miss Minnesota is hosted by Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Frazee. Tickets $25. See above for details.

HOLIDAY EVENTS

• Ladies' Christmas Tea: 7 p.m., Historic Holmes Theatre Ballroom, 806 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Hosted by Community Alliance Church of Detroit Lakes; guest speaker is is Debbie Crabtree, and musical guest is Kathy Bjorke. Tickets are $5, available at the ticket office or at Community Alliance Church. Dessert will be served.

Friday, Dec. 10

MUSIC

• Park Rapids Classic Chorale: 7:30 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, Highway 34, Park Rapids. The Christmas Concert "Caroling, Caroling" features a wide variety of popular holiday music. Park Rapids Classic Chorale members will provide superb homemade holiday treats after the concert. Free will donations help defray the cost of music.
