• Author to speak: Steven Hoffbeck, author of the award winning book, The Haymakers, presents a program in conjunction with the Hubbard County Historical Society's Annual Meeting in the Red Bridge Inn in Park Rapids. A fall dessert buffet will begin at 6:30 p.m., with a short business meeting at 7 and the election of officers prior to the presentation. A free will donation will be collected. The public is invited to attend.

LITERARY EVENTS

• Library Club: 2 p.m., Detroit Lakes Public Library. Ada author Annelee Woodstrom will speak on her experiences growing up in Europe in World War II. Her writings include "War Child" and "Empty Chairs." Musical selections will be sung by Tom Faix. Social committee is Lou Heino and Edna Mae Pearson. The meeting is free and open to the public.
