FESTIVALS

• Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Rollag. Gates open daily at 6 a.m.; ladies' activities begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street. Parades at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; steam hammer demonstrations at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; style show at 3 p.m. A day pass to the show grounds is $12; a season pass (all four days) is $20; and a camping season pass (the campgrounds open Thursday) is $35. MUSIC

• Ogema Days: 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. (Sunday), Ogema. A community rummage sale will kick off the celebration from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the 5K Rod Run is slated to begin at 9 a.m. A parade down Main Street will start at 1 p.m. Kids games will take place at the park with a bean bag tournament at 4 p.m. The street dance runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

• Snellman Days: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Snellman. Breakfast, flea market, classic car show, games, bingo, hand-weaving demonstrations and farmers market. Mayor drawing is at noon; karaoke is from 4 to 6 p.m.

MUSIC

• Haining Family: 7 p.m., Northwoods Harvest Barn Cowboy Church, east of Detroit Lakes on Highway 34. The Haining Family showcases their unique blend of gospel, bluegrass, fiddle tunes, yodeling, instrumentals and three and four part vocal harmonies. Free-will offering.

• Lakeside Quilt Show: 2 to 5 p.m., 30582 Baypoint Beach Road, Spirit Lake, Vergas (four miles west of Vergas on County Road 4). In case of bad weather, the show will be Sept. 5.

MISCELLANEOUS

• Civilian Conservation Corps movie: 2 p.m., Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, rural Detroit Lakes. Roosevelt's civilian conservation corps put more than three million young men in the nation's parks, forests, and farms. This film interweaves rich archival imagery with the personal accounts of CCC veterans to tell the story of the boldest New Deal experiments.
