"Timber-Dead & Down": 2 p.m., Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, rural Detroit Lakes. Movie produced by the Becker County Historical Society tells the story of the region's timber industry by combining historical footage, letters from loggers and modern-day perspectives from industry experts.
North Country Trail Hike: 1 p.m., Chippewa National Forest. Hikers meet at the second crossing of the NCT on Woodtick Trail. Easy three-mile hike features fall colors as well as two new boardwalks around beaver dams in the Chippewa National Forest. To arrive at the starting point take Hwy. 371 south of Walker for seven miles, turn left (east) on the Woodtick Trail and travel for two miles to the second crossing of the North Country Trail. Hikers should bring layered clothing, carry water and a snack.
"Space Dreams-Man's Eternal Quest": 2 p.m., Minnesota State University Moorhead Planetarium. Learn about Native American star stories, Greek ideas of space travel as well as the current realities and future hopes of our eternal quest for the stars. Admission is $1.50-$3. Info: 218-477-2920.
