• Thanksgiving Service & Dinner: 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Detroit Lakes Middle School. Community Alliance Church of Detroit Lakes will host an 11 a.m. Thanksgiving service, followed by the noon meal. The event is free and open to the public.

DANCE

• Square Dancing: 2 to 4:30 p.m., Community Center, Waubun. Roger McNeil will call the tips. Lunch will be served by the Rising Sun Dancers, who are the hosts for the evening. All dancers and spectators are welcome.

• "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee": 3 p.m., Moorhead High School Auditorium, 2300 4th Ave. S., Moorhead. A hit musical about the unlikeliest of heroes - a quirky, yet charming, cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time; each show will bring local and state celebrities to the stage to share the spotlight with the student ensemble. Any resident of the Detroit Lakes area, particularly those who will be alone and/or those who are unable to otherwise participate in a Thanksgiving meal are invited to enjoy this holiday feast with all the trimmings.
