The saga of George Bailey, the everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born that his has been, after all, a wonderful life. "At Christmas" with Mick Sterling: 7:30 p.m., Historic Holmes Theatre, 826 Summit Ave., Detroit Lakes. Theatrical presentaton combining live music performances with a mixture of humorous and poignant vignettes depicting family interactions during the holiday season. The theatrical pieces are written and produced by alumni of Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop, while the music is performed by a five-piece band featuring Twin Cities singer and bandleader Mick Sterling. Friday, Dec. 14
Canadian Pacific Holiday Train: 3:15 p.m., Holmes Street Crossing, Detroit Lakes. The Holiday Train returns to Detroit Lakes with a live Christmas show featuring regional artists the Clay Tones and Tracy Brown performing a mixture of new and traditional holiday music. The event is a fundraiser for the Becker County Food Pantry, and donations of both non-perishable food items and cash will be gratefully accepted.
Saturday, Dec. 15
