Shakespeare auditions

Auditions for this summer's Shakespeare in the Park production of "Taming of the Shrew" will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre, Detroit Lakes. Roles available include 14 for men and nine for women; callbacks will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 25. Performances are set for July 26-28 and July 2, 3 and 5 in the DL City Park. Saana Ensemble

The Twin Cities-based Saana Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22 in the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. This five-member vocal group performs traditional Finnish folk tunes with a modern twist. They perform both accompanied and a capella music in the Finnish language. The Lodge on Lake Detroit continues its Live at the Lodge series with a performance by jazz duo David Ferreira (piano/vocals) and Russ Peterson (saxophone). ITOW Veterans Museum

Memorial Day services sponsored by the Perham VFW Post 4020 and American Legion Post 61 and their Auxiliaries will be held at the ITOW Veterans Museum on Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m. The museum will be open all day on Memorial Day, with no charge to visit the exhibits. From 7 a.m. to noon there will be an "all you can eat" Dad's Belgian Waffle Breakfast. Tickets are $6 in advance or $6.50 at the door. Children age 5 and younger eat free. Arts marketing seminar

On Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center will sponsor a workshop on using Etsy, an internet-based marketing initiative for artists and artisans. Etsy is a global marketing initiative. Merry Reimler, a Twin Cities-based artist who has participated in Etsy for the past two years, will present the workshop. All artists and craftpersons are encouraged to attend this free workshop, which will be held at the Center. Call 218-385-3339 to register.
