Shrine Circus

The Shrine Circus comes to Detroit Lakes' Freeman Arena for three shows today, at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. General admission is $5; doors open one hour before the start of each show.

Spring Arts Festival

The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival opens today from 7-9 p.m. in the Green Gym at Frazee High School, located in the Green Gym. Tonight's show is open to students, their families and the general public. The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival is an opportunity to view displays of 2-D and 3-D art made by K-12 grade students.

Spring Arts Festival

The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival concludes today in the Green Gym at Frazee High School, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Today's festival is open for Frazee School staff to view, and teachers are encouraged to bring their classes to tour art displays. The Frazee Schools Spring Arts Festival is an opportunity to view displays of 2-D and 3-D art made by K-12 grade students.

Johnson Family Band

The Johnson Family Band, bluegrass band from the Fargo area, will give a concert at the James W. Mann Auditorium, New York Mills Schools, at 7:30 p.m. The band consists of an energetic group of young musicians presenting the music that they love. This concert is free to students. Red Bridge Film Festival

Beading class

A Lampwork Beadmaking class will be held today in the Country Charm store at Washington Square Mall, from 1-3 p.m. and again from 4-6 p.m. This class will show you how to make glass beads using a torch and different colored rods of glass. Cost is $25 and includes all supplies needed to make a bead or possible two if time permits. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required as class size is limited. 'Spring Fever Reliever'

The Lodge on Lake Detroit will host a "Spring Fever Reliever" event, starting at 5:30 p.m. with a California boutique wine tasting event (reservations required; admission $25 per person). The wine tasting will be followed by a free Live at the Lodge concert at 7 p.m., featuring the talents of Minneapolis jazz vocalist Christine Rosholt, accompanied by Frazee's own Tim Sparks on guitar and Graydon Peterson on bass. FM Jazz Arts Big Band

The Fargo-Moorhead Jazz Arts Big Band will present a concert featuring trombone player John Fedchock on Saturday, April 12 at the Fargo Theatre. 'Carnival of the Animals'

'Carnival of the Animals'

The Fargo Moorhead Ballet will present the ballet "Carnival of the Animals," a composition by Camille Saint-Saens, at Weld Hall on the campus of Minnesota State University Moorhead. The ballet, which starts at 2 p.m., will be preceded by a special free event, "Family Day at the Ballet," featuring face painting, story telling, creative movement, back stage tour, a children's art exhibit and a chance to meet the ballet's characters. Vocal recital

Minnesota State Community and Technical College music student Anastasia Skillingstad will present a vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. in the Waage Fine Arts Theater on the campus of MSCTC-Fergus Falls. Skillingstad, who studies with MSCTC instructor Teresa Ashworth, will perform works of Mozart, Scarlatti, Schubert, Vivaldi and others. Susan Sanner is her accompanist. Empty Bowls Lunch

In an effort to help fight hunger, students from Minnesota State Community and Technical College are participating in an Empty Bowls Project by hosting a lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Legacy Hall on the MSCTC-Fergus Falls campus. Guests will be served soup in a handmade ceramic bowl of their choice in exchange for a minimum donation of $12 to the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Guests will be allowed to keep their bowl as a reminder of the meal's purpose.
