WE?Fest goes green with MPCA help

FACE, Inc., producers of the WE Fest and 10,000 Lakes Festival, have been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, to increase recycling at special events held in Soo Pass Ranch.

"We think our audience knows how to recycle, they just don't know how to at our festival," FACE's Jeff Krueger told an audience during the Capital for a Day celebration.

The MPCA funds will be used to develop WE B Green, a comprehensive recycling program that will significantly reduce the amount of landfill waste generated by business operations, as well as vendors and campers at WE Fest and 10KLF.

The goal of this program is to reduce the amount of solid waste from Soo Pass events by 50 percent within four years, including an immediate reduction of 14 percent in 2008.
