Though much attention has been focused on the national, state and county offices that will be up for grabs at the Nov. 4 general election, there are also several city and school board officials whose terms will expire this fall.

The filing period for city and school elections will be from Aug. 26-Sept. 9.

In Detroit Lakes, the terms of Mayor Larry Buboltz and aldermen G.L. Tucker, Ron Zeman, James Hannon and Bruce Imholte will all expire at the end of 2008.

Frazee City Council members whose terms are up this year are Don Trieglaff and Donna Ouart.

In Callaway, Mayor Gretchen Stalboerger and council members Ken Blattenbauer and Emily Annette will all be facing re-election (should they choose to file), while in Audubon, the terms of Mayor Terry Johnson and council members John Ronning and Jeff Quam are also set to expire.

Lake Park City Council members whose terms expire this fall include Mayor Dan Larson and council members Jason Crabtree and Jason Abbott.

Detroit Lakes School Board members facing re-election, should they choose to file, include Dr. Tom Seaworth, LuAnn Porter and Deanna Sinclair, while in Lake Park-Audubon, the terms of Lori Bartunek, Dale Binde and Rick Olson are all expiring this year.

In Waubun-Ogema-White Earth, board members Allen Haugo, Tom Teiken and Jim Helliksen will have until Sept. 9 to decide whether to seek re-election, as will Frazee-Vergas board members LaRaye Anderson, Mike Hiemenz and Dana Laine.

Also, there are six townships in Becker County -- Eagle View, Evergreen, Forest, Maple Grove, Round Lake and Savannah -- that have opted to hold their township board elections as part of the Nov. 4 general election. The filing period for those township elections will be the same as for city and school board offices.
