Frazee's 12th annual Oktoberfest celebration is from noon to 8 p.m. today (Sunday ) in the Frazee Event Center. Dance to live music by the Country Polkateers and by Matt & the Dakota Dutchmen. Admission is $10. There will be German food available and a cash bar. For more info, call 800-407-2488.

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge presents the movie "Rachel Carson's Silent Spring" at 2 p.m. today in the Visitors' Center. Carson's book Silent Spring exposed the unregulated use of pesticides including DDT; sparking a revolution in environmental policy. Pianists Russel Bunker and Paul Heisler perform a duo piano concert at 3 p.m. today in the First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. A second concert is planned for 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham. Proceeds will benefit senior scholarships for area voice and piano students.

St. Ann's of Waubun hosts a Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today in the Waubun Community Center. Cost is $6 for adults, 12 and under are $3 and preschool are free. There will also be a raffle, bake sale and country store.

The Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes will present a concert by one of the most popular voices in Celtic music today, Cathie Ryan, this Thursday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for students. The Indian and the White Guy are back! America's favorite music and comedy duo, Bruce Williams & Terry Ree, have sustained a career over 30 years packing casinos, clubs and arenas from Niagara Falls to Las Vegas with their ever-changing routine. On May 1, 1960, Captain Francis Gary Powers was shot down over the Soviet Union while piloting his U2 spy plane sparking one of the most famous international incidents of the Cold War. The latest exhibit at the In Their Own Words (ITOW) Veterans Museum, "Top Secret," which opened May 1 and continues through Oct. 31, includes photographs and artifacts from the Cold War Museum about the U-2 Incident.
