Winn to serve as DL-WOT president

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today recently elected Jennifer Winn, Detroit Lakes, to serve as its President for May 2008-April 2009. Winn has been a member of the Detroit Lakes Women of Today for 6 years, and is employed by Arvig Communication Systems, Perham. She and her husband, Marty, have two children, Danny and Sam. Other officers for 2008-2009 include: Amy Lakin (Secretary), Melissa McDougall (Treasurer), Rory Tangen (State Delegate), Nicole Kirchner (Membership), Tanya Hockett (Programming), Christy Brinkman (Past President), and Cassandra Thomasson (Parliamentarian).

In May, the group made the following donations to area organizations: St. Mary's Regional Health Center Foundation ($250), LP-A Summer Rec ($200), Detroit Lakes Summer Rec ($200), Lincoln School Playground Equipment ($200), Hospice RRV ($200), Lakes Crises Center ($200), Becker County Relay for Life ($200), DLCCC Kid's Zone ($200), Habitat for Humanity ($200), Human Society of the Lakes ($200), NAPS for Seniors ($200), Mosaic Mania Elementary Art Project ($100), Dreams for Kids ($200), and the Lake Park 4-H Knitting Program ($200).

The Women of Today is open for membership to all women over the age of 18, and is a community service organization that focuses on service, growth, and fellowship. The group has 25 members and meets on the fourth Thursday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. For more information, contact Jennifer at 846-0832.
