Wisconsin man gets jail, fine for drugs

Steven Taylor Kvigne, 25, of Ferryville, Wis., has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.

According to court records, on July 21 a trooper on Highway 59 pulled over a blue Ford Escort wagon for having a large object hanging from the rear-view mirror. The trooper observed marijuana residue in the center console area and a drug-sniffing dog was deployed, locating 1.2 grams of hashish under the seat.

Kvigne appeared Jan. 14 before District Judge Joe Evans, who issued a stay of adjudgment and placed him on supervised probation for five years. He was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for two days served, and was fined a total of $1,090. He must get a chemical use assessment and follow the recommendations.
