Woman gets probation for DWI charge
A Moorhead man was sentenced Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a driving while intoxicated charge.
Tyler Meyers Hughes, 22, of 618 15th St. N., Moorhead, was ordered to serve 90 days in jail, stayed, and up to two years of supervised probation. He must also pay $210 in court fines and fees.
A second count of DWI and a felony drug possession charge were dismissed at sentencing
Hughes was charged in connection with a July 4 incident on West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes.
According to the criminal complaint, an officer observed a Jeep traveling east on West Lake Drive at around 7:30 p.m. that accelerated rapidly as it approached a crosswalk, causing some pedestrians to have to stop to avoid the vehicle.
After the officer stopped the vehicle, he noticed that the driver showed multiple signs of intoxication, and after he was brought to the jail, an Intoxilyzer test showed his blood alcohol level to be at .19.
After Hughes' vehicle was impounded, a search of its interior yielded small amounts of both marijuana and cocaine.
