The riverside home in Granite Falls where authorities are investigating a homicide remained taped off Tuesday morning, but barricades no longer blocked the streets leading up it. A Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office vehicle was parked nearby. Police were called to the home early Monday and found a woman dead and a man critically injured by apparent gunshots. GRANITE FALLS — Authorities investigating the Monday morning shooting death of a 26-year-old Granite Falls woman are still trying to locate a man referred to as a "person of interest" in the homicide.

Law enforcement has not released the name of the woman who was killed, but multiple sources say it was Kara Ann Monson. Initial news releases gave a different age, but state birth records confirm Monson was 26 and would have turned 27 on Tuesday.
