Wrestling: Badgers do well in Fertile

The United Clay Becker wrestling team finished in eighth place as a team in the Fertile-Beltrami Tournament Saturday, while senior Mason Swegarden won another division title by claiming the 145-pound division.

Swegarden, who is ranked No. 6 at 145 in Class 2A, toppled Cole Knockenmus of Roseau by pin in the title bout.

Teammate Jonah Lange also wrestled to the finals, before losing to Daven Staples of Blackduck by a narrow 6-5 decision.

Other Badger wrestlers who placed included Jarrett Lange in fifth at 126; and Riley Byklum and Isaiah Ruhl, both fourth, at 113 and 182 respectively.

Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena won the team title, with Roseau finishing second.
