Young people from DL, White Earth, Park Rapids hurt in broadside crash on Highway 71
A Detroit Lakes man and a White Earth woman were among three people injured in a T-bone accident on Highway 71 in Wadena County.
According to the State Patrol, the crash occurred about 10:15 p.m. Saturday after a 2001 Buick LeSabre that was on the southbound shoulder made a U-turn in front of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was southbound on Highway 71.
The Grand Cherokee hit the Buick broadside, sending the driver of the Buick and two passengers in the car to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids.
The driver of the Buick was Tamara C. Eischens, 21, of Park Rapids.
The passengers were Allen G. Bloom, 18, of Detroit Lakes and Kathleen M. Beaupre, 18, of White Earth.
All three were transported by North Memorial and Tri-County ambulances to the hospital in Park Rapids, with what the State Patrol called serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
Condition reports from the hospital were not available Sunday.
The driver of the Grand Cherokee Levi R. Yliniemi, 32, and passenger Andrea J. Yliniemi, 24, of Menahga suffered no apparent injuries.
The Menahga Police Department and Wadena County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
