Youth attend Rotary Camp

Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Club sponsored Melanie Turcotte, Thressa Johnson, Joe Jacobson and Kelsey Wenner for a weeklong Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp, held on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. The Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary Club sponsored Sarah Wilson and Maura Schumacher.

Camp RYLA's mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities.

These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve and refine the participants' leadership skills.

Local Rotary clubs sponsor the RYLA campers, and the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary District 5580 and UMC host the campers. They stay in the residence halls on campus during this weeklong program.

Information about that camp RYLA is available by calling 218-281-8585 or at www.caampryla.org.
