Holiday piano concert
Russell Bunker and Paul Heisler perform an Advent/Christmas piano duet at noon today, as part of the Wednesdays in Advent fine arts series at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. The Laker Singers will join them. Soup and sandwiches will be served following the performance.

Holiday Cabaret Night
Sit back, relax and enjoy Christmas, blues and classic rock by the Fat Cats from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Ballroom. Unwind under the beautiful lights of the Holmes Ballroom, sip on your favorite drink and nibble on fabulous appetizers. Hand paint a mug as part of the DLCCC's "Get Mugged" art outreach project (one mug $15, two for $25), and it will be returned to you in time for Christmas! Tickets are available at the door for $5. Summit Dance School presents "Holiday Magic" at 6:15 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre, Detroit Lakes. Tickets will be sold at the box office or at the door. Dance students are donating food items to the Food Pantry, so anyone wishing to donate a nonperishable food item can bring it to the performance.
The New York Mills Regional Cultural has rescheduled its annual holiday party and silent auction for tonight at 7 p.m. The silent auction will end at 8:30 p.m., followed by the drawing for a free annual membership ticket. There will be plenty of good food and holiday cheer -- don't miss out on this second chance for the 2008 annual holiday party.

Free kids' movie
Washington Square Mall Cinema 5 will host a free screening of the kids' movie "Alvin & the Chipmunks" at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20. (please bring a non-perishable item for the Becker County Food Pantry). It is sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Free sleigh rides
Free sleigh rides are from noon to 3 p.m. in front of the Washington Square Mall. It is sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Kim Schnitzer and Vicki Marthaler host their 10th annual concert -- "One King, Hope of the World" -- at 3 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. This was postponed from last week due to the storm. This year joining them is a choir made up of volunteers from the community, under the direction of Paul Heissler. This is a free-will offering.
Sundaes with Santa
Kids are invited to the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center to celebrate the season at the DLCCC's first ever "Sundaes with Santa." The fun begins at 6 p.m. in the Holmes Ballroom. Children can build their own sundaes, take a photo with Santa, play fun Christmas games and make holiday crafts. The cost is $5 per child. Adults are admitted free of charge. The Fargo-Moorhead Ballet returns to Detroit Lakes with the area tradition "Christmas Holiday," starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. This delightful dance classic was the first Christmas show at the Holmes Theatre in 2002. "Christmas Holiday 2008" dance spectacular puts a 1920s' New York jazz flare on Duke Ellington's "Nutcracker Suite" and includes the original show-stopping numbers "Toy Shop Fantasy" and "Rockettes" in grand Radio City-style.
