Health on the Internet

Explore what the Internet has to offer for health enthusiasts at Detroit Lakes Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants will look at Web sites featuring health and exercise tips as well as sites with sample exercise routines. Some computer experience is necessary to get the most out of this class. Class size is limited to six; please call the Library at 847-2168 to reserve your spot.

Poetry punch

Let your creative juices flow at Detroit Lakes Library. Teens in grades six through 12 are invited to participate in the Poetry Punch at Detroit Lakes Library at 4 p.m. Write a poem and/or share it orally (poetry slam style). The group will also create poems round robin style where a line is added to the poem by each member of the group. Join us in a casual coffee house atmosphere. Food and drink will be served. There will be cash prizes in both written and oral competitions.

Area children and parents/grandparents are invited to attend Library Day from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, April 9 in the Cormorant Community Center.

'The Last Supper'

Trinity Lutheran Church performs a dramatization of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9. It is open to the public.

'The Campfire'

An Easter drama for the whole family, "The Campfire" is Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. It is free admission. The humorous, music-filled story is about two friends in the corporate world, who lose their jobs and see life differently when encountering a simple mountain family while on a camping trip. Johnny Buttens, the world's fastest banjo player, and the Fat Cats will perform.


The White Earth Tribal & Community College Student Senate hosts the 2nd Annual Traditional Pow-wow at the Nay-Tah-Waush Sports Complex. Grand Entry is at 1 p.m. with Feast at 5 p.m. They will be celebrating Accreditation and Anishinaabe Arts. All are welcome to attend.

Sinatra Movie Marathon

Come to the ballroom of the Historic Holmes Theatre enjoy a Frank Sinatra Movie Marathon, with trivia, prizes and more, starting at 1 p.m. Pull up a lawn chair in our ballroom (or bring your own) and re-live the glamour, elegance and mystery of old Hollywood. Movies featured will include "Guys & Dolls," "Anchors Aweigh" and "Ocean's 11."

Geronimo Stilton

Children ages 4-10 and their families are invited to the "Geronimo Stilton-Shipwreck on the Pirate Islands" event at Detroit Lakes Library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. There will be crafts, activities, snacks and a story all inspired by the Geronimo Stilton book.

Empty Bowls Lunch

Art students from Minnesota State Community and Technical College will be hosting an Empty Bowls Lunch on Thursday, April 16. This event is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Legacy Hall on M-State's Fergus Falls campus. Guests will be served soup in a handmade ceramic bowl of their choice in exchange for a minimum donation of $12. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.
