LRAC will host its inaugural "Arts Resource Fair" Aug. 16 in Fergus Falls

The Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC), the largest arts funder in West Central Minnesota, will host an innovative project, designed to help regional artists connect with the wide variety of statewide resources.

The first time such an event has been held in the state, the Aug. 16 “Arts Resource Fair’ will be the culmination of a year of planning and represents LRAC’s partnerships with over 15 statewide arts organizations, including the Minnesota State Arts Board, McKnight Fellowship Representatives, the Jerome Foundation, the Northern Clay Center, Minnesota Music Coalition, The Loft Literary Center, Springboard for the Arts, and Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, to name a few.

What is an “Arts Resource Fair”? It is an event that provides regional artists and state wide arts organizations the opportunity to meet and get to know each other.

The Arts Resource Fair is a time to connect, communicate and create community.

Artists will have the opportunity to meet and talk with grant makers, exhibition/performance venues, and a variety of organizations that want to help them become a better artist, singer, dancer, writer or performer.

There will be panel discussions, workshops and guest speakers. By attending, an artist will be better prepared to advance with their career goals and become aware of new opportunities to contribute to the growth and vitality of their communities.

Supported by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the Arts Resource Fair is free to all variety of artists who live in Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin counties.

The event is set to runj from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Legacy Hall, located on the campus of Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Fergus Falls.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The Lake Region Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encourage and support the vitality of the arts.

The LRAC accomplishes this through providing grants to community organizations and individual artists in the region; and providing a monthly ArtsNews letter, workshops and technical assistance.

LRAC serves the counties of: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin in west central Minnesota.
