LRAC offers up to $750 grant for artists to get ‘quick start’

The Lake Region Arts Council in Fergus Falls has announced that the new and improved artist small grant, the “Artist Quick Start Grant,” will  will award $750 to individuals living in the LRAC region for training, supplies, equipment and general expenses for art projects.

Six grants will be awarded this year with funding from the McKnight Foundation, with the submission deadline for applications set for midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 5. There will only be one grant round this year.

The grant applications will be reviewed at the LRAC’s monthly board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

The goal of this grant program is to provide financial support individuals in the LRAC region ready to get serious about their art, music, writing, dance, photography, ceramics, print making, etc.

It is designed to be the first step in building professional skills through training, equipment, supplies, mentoring or workshops.

All grant project start dates need to be after the grant review date.

All six grants will be awarded at this round.

The grants will be awarded based on a ranking system with no geographical restrictions.

The ranking will be based on three criteria: Overall excellence of the art work and demonstration of exceptional talent; the project’s contribution to the artist’s professional growth; and evidence of serious professional commitment.
