World War II survivor, author to speak at library
Come into Detroit Lakes Library on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. for an author visit with Annelee Woodstrom.
Woodstrom, an Ada native, will share stories from her books, "War Child" and "Empty Chairs." Music will be provided by Tom Faix.
Anneliese Solch was born in 1926 and grew up in a small town in rural Bavaria, Germany. She saw the rise of Hitler and WWII through youthful eyes. She was 19 years old when Germany surrendered in May 1945.
In 1947, Annelee came to the United States to become the bride of a Minnesota GI who had befriended her family immediately after the war ended. She has lived the last 60 years in small town Minnesota.
