TU Dance brings modern movement to DL

Modern dance company TU Dance will be in Detroit Lakes for two days of residency followed by a public performance at the Historic Holmes Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

This performance is underwritten by Essentia Health. TU Dance will be sharing their stories and talents with Essentia Health as well as third graders from Detroit Lakes, Perham and Pelican Rapids.

TU Dance is one of the nation’s newest non-profit professional dance organizations.

Founded in 2004 by Toni Pierce-Sands and Uri Sands, the Minnesota-based company reaches across dance styles, drawing on a broad range of dance traditions from contemporary ballet to modern and traditional forms.

Their diverse repertoire, versatile artists and engaging, dynamic performances aim to reveal the connective power of dance, celebrating a beautiful diversity on stage.

Modern dance, classical ballet, African-based and urban movements are combined in inventive and unpredictable ways.

Next up in the Holmes Theatre line-up is Daddy’s Little Sweetheart Dance on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.

Ticket prices go up for this event after Friday, Jan. 31.
