'Deer Camp the Musical' in Wadena Oct. 16
Written by St. Cloud native Gene Jurek, with music by Doug Spartz of Pine River, "Deer Camp the Musical" is a true homegrown success.
The lighthearted musical tribute to that time-honored Minnesota hunting tradition known as deer camp has surpassed all expectations of success since its opening in 2007.
"Deer Camp" follows the escapades of four lifelong friends as they make one last trek to their deer shack. The foursome has the distinction of having never fired a shot in 30 years of hunting together.
But this year is different -- if they don't bring home a deer, their wives have told them this fall's deer camp will be their last.
Since opening in 2007, the show has continued to sell out, breaking attendance records at theaters statewide. Over 10,000 people saw "Deer Camp" in the St. Cloud area alone.
There will be two showings of "Deer Camp the Musical" at Wadena's Memorial Auditorium this Saturday, Oct. 16, at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $22 in advance, or $24 at the door, and can be purchased by contacting the Wadena Chamber of Commerce at 218-632-7704.
Doors will open a half hour prior to each show.
